North Cedar Academy in the USA to close at end of term
Wisconsin-based international boarding school North Cedar Academy has announced that it will close its doors at the end of the current academic year.
In a notice sent to agents and industry event organizers, Michael Lovorn, Headmaster and Executive Director of North Cedar Academy, which is a co-ed private boarding institution located on a 96-acre campus in Ladysmith, said that the school will close “due to insurmountable financial challenges”.
In the statement, he said, “Despite every effort by our leadership, board, and dedicated staff to secure additional funding and stabilize our finances, the school has reached a point where continuing operations is no longer possible. This decision was not made lightly and comes after months of difficult deliberation.”
In the message to partners, he said, “We are profoundly grateful for the trust you have placed in us over these years. Our partnerships have helped make NCA a truly special place, and we will always cherish the memories and accomplishments we have shared together. To our agents, thank you for placing students at NCA. We certainly couldn’t have done this without you. To our recruitment company partners, thank you for hosting us at your fairs. We will cherish the connections we’ve made with you and others at your events.”
All school functions will continue unaltered and uninterrupted for the remainder of the spring semester.
North Cedar Academy said it was developing an in-house protocol for counselling students through school transfers, but said it will defer to agents’ guidance regarding their clients’ families.
The school is also actively seeking to secure transfer placements for 64 students, some of whom received substantial scholarships or financial aid packages. Schools interested in taking students can contact Michael directly.
According to its StudyTravel Network profile, North Cedar Academy predominantly recruited students from Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and South Korea.
